kubernetes

Kubernetes is a container orchestration engine used by companies around the world.

  • Started as ‘the Borg’ at Google.
  • created by Joe Beda, Brendan Burns, Craig McLuckie
  • Brendan wanted to call it project 7 but a ColdFusion product had the trademark.
  • originally written in Go because they were learning Go and it seemed like a good starter project to work with.
  • Joe has mentioned that he is very sad that YAML is the way most people work with k8s, rather than a nice user interface.
  • Infra started working with it for RBAC for kubernetes before pivoting to Keypair and then to Ollama.
  • I interviewed Brendan Burns with Bret Fisher on the Devops and Docker Talk podcast.
